Test Equipment
IFPL understands the difficulties that can be faced by maintenance and service staff when installing, maintaining and servicing inflight entertainment (IFE) systems.
We have developed a range of handheld equipment to assist maintenance staff to carry out accurate testing of audio jacks, headsets and cables in a timely and efficient manner, details of which are given below:
Audio Jack Tester
IFPL's Audio Jack Tester is a handheld, battery powered unit with an audio level VU display, which provides a convenient and simple method for checking the status of audio levels at the seat.
The tester features a built-in calibration tone source (1kHz) for the isolation of jack modules from the seat harness, and for the setting of read-out levels. It is capable of testing left/right phases and noise cancelling voltage levels (go/no go).
The unit is capable of testing single stereo, dual pin and three pin noise cancelling jacks*. Simply plug it into the headset jack and push the button!
*An adapter cable is required for some applications
Headset Tester
IFPL's headset tester is aimed at cabin servicing companies wishing to test A1, A2, D1-1, D1-2 and D2 headsets.
The headset tester allows service staff to test that headsets are operating effectively and therefore whether to dispose of or reuse.
The unit is highly portable, battery operated and lightweight at only 110g including battery.
Cable Tester
IFPL's hand-held Cable Tester is operated by a single press of a button. Its simplicity of operation does away with laborious point-to-point resistance checking, and it will pay for itself within a single day.
The unit features an easy to read display, with coloured LED's to indicate which wires are connected, and whether there is a fault. The tester is compatible with cord reels, cradles, curly cords and video harness arms and is able to detect short circuits, open circuits, crossed wires and continuity in cables up to 600ft long.
Also included is a 'remote terminator' unit which is attached to the far end of the cable under test. Because the tester does not need a 'return' cable between the two ends of the cable under test, this tester can be used in very confined situations.
The unit is supplied with a set of cable adapters, which are built to customer specification.
